Harold Daniel Mayfield, age 87, lost his long battle with health issues on January 24, 2020. Harold was born in Stoneham, Colorado on September 14, 1932. Harold's home of 73 years was Medicine Bow, Wyoming. Harold worked for the UPRR but was determined to give his children the benefit of one school. He went to work for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company and worked at Oil Springs for 40 years as an operations-specialists until retirement. The Saratoga Platte Valley Kiwanis Club recently donated two cars seats to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) for the hospital's Safe Kids Program. The car seats are used for parents that are unable to afford a car seat, have an expired car seat or for children that have been in an accident to provide a new car seat. The Carbon County School District No. 2 (CCSD2) Board of Trustees held their regular meeting at 4 p.m. on January 21 at the Medicine Bow Elementary School in Medicine Bow. Before the meeting started, students from Medicine Bow Elementary sang the National Anthem. Some of the students also signed to the song. The Saratoga Town Council is requesting public input before purchasing five new security cameras to be used at the Hot Pool and Saratoga Town Hall. At the January 21 meeting of the governing body, Sergeant Tyler Christen of the Saratoga Police Department provided a quote for five frogeye security cameras. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon will be embarking on a listening tour this weekend in regards to his Migration Corridor Executive Order. The executive order, which was released in December, pertains to the Sublette, Baggs and Platte Valley Mule Deer Migration Corridors. The tour will be co-hosted by Gordon, the Wyoming County Commissioners Association and the commissioners of the respective counties. The Carbon County Visitor Council’s (CCCVC) monthly meeting was held at 10 a.m. on January 22 at the Platte Valley Community Center in Saratoga. The four member Saratoga Speech and Debate team returned home as champions over the weekend. Competing in the “Speak of the Devil” tournament in Evanston, Kaylyn Hunter and Kaitlyn Campbell both advanced to the semifinals rounds for Impromptu Speaking. In addition, the Togie Talk Jocks brought home 1st place in the 1A/2A Sweepstakes. Fourteen teams went to Lingle on Friday and Saturday for the Dogger Invite.
