Panthers get more experience at Dogger

Saratoga mat-men continue to show well

Fourteen teams went to Lingle on Friday and Saturday for the Dogger Invite.

The Saratoga High School team placed 11th, a decent showing given there were six wrestlers that attended from the school.

“It was another weekend of small steps for the Panthers with only six wrestlers competing at Lingle,” Saratoga Head Coach Jared Mason said.

At 106 pounds Cale Mowry continued to get mat experience.

The same can be said for Jakob Hampton at 126 pounds. He won a match in the second consolation round before losing in the third consolation round.

Former state champ Justin Shotwell placed 3rd at 126 and brought the team 18 points.

Kellen Reeder placed 6th at 170, bringing 9 points, and Ben Wagy was also 6th at 182 and added 3 points to the team.

There was one very bright spot of the tournament according to Mason.

“Kaden Hedley earned his first win of the season and Panther Wrestler of the Week honor,” Mason said. “So the whole team was excited about his accomplishments.”

Hedley wrestled at 195 pounds and brought in 4 points for the team.

Mason said the next wrestling matches will be on his home turf.

“We will host Rawlins, HEM, and North Park here at SMHS this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m,” the Saratoga head coach said.
