Editorial-The time to be involved is now

If you want your voice heard, this is the week for it. Several crucial meetings are taking place which allow for public comment. The first two meetings were last night . The U.S. Fish and Wildlife hosted an open house at the Platte Valley Community Center to discuss and listen to your concerns about the potential environmental impacts that an eagle take permit will have. Scoping comments for the permit will be taken until Feb. 3. 2014.

Before the town council meeting, the town had a public meeting and took comments about applying for a Community Block Grant for a new master plan for Saratoga.

Today, the Industrial Siting Council meets in Saratoga and Medicine Bow Fuel & Power LLC is on the agenda at 1 p.m. For the first time in several years, the Siting Council is meeting in Saratoga.

Thursday, Stantec is reporting to the town of Saratoga and its citizens about the river restoration study. Stantec has been in a data collection phase and will make its recommendations to the public Thursday at 9 a.m. to the town of Saratoga. The public is invited to attend, but must save their comments for the 6 p.m. meeting.

These are all meetings that will affect the future of our fine community. Don’t depend on what your neighbor has to say or what you have heard around town. Letters to the editor have been written on projects, but remember, these are opinions.

Get the facts. Get involved. Go to the public meetings and listen for yourself before you make any decisions.

Your input matters.

The staff of the Saratoga Sun attends these meetings to keep you informed and report what the concerns of the public may be, but we can’t share your opinion unless you attend.

If you don’t show up, no one will hear you.
