The Saratoga Sun -

Families have fun at carnival

We had our Carnival on Oct. 25. It was games, prizes, candy, cookies, and the cake walk for the kids of the Valley. We want to thank all the people who helped us—Janice Kerpan, Connie Patterson, Lila Worden, Jill Martin, Kim Givens, Pastor Gene Smith, Roxie Baldwin, Elder Clay, Elder Young, our Administrator, Dave Doorn, and our staff. In addition, all the individuals and organizations that donated cakes, cookies, etc. helped make the cake walk great. The kids in their costumes with their parents really had a lot of fun. The money from the tickets for the games will help buy residents Christmas presents.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Dominoes. On Wednesday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, nine residents played Bingo. Dora Martin won Four Corners. Pat Sims won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden and Joy Hamilton. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

Residents watched the Turner Classic Movie channel during the week. On Sunday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “The Virginian”. On Tuesday afternoon, residents watched a VCR movie. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “How to Marry a Millionaire”.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, four residents had broccoli/cheese soup and turkey sandwiches on Monday.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Stinson of the Saratoga Missionary Alliance Church led church for residents. Joe Gaspari assisted with hymn singing.

On Monday afternoon, three residents went shopping at Family Dollar.

On Tuesday morning, Pastor Hughes of the Abundant Life Fellowship offered Bible Study to five residents.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave beautiful hairdos to seven ladies in Hair Care, and Brenda Zeiger did nails for them.

On Wednesday at supper, Teense Willford sang and played country western music on his guitar for residents.

We wish to thank Robi Spear for the candy for Blackjack and Jordan Travis for the stuffed animals for Bingo.

The Activity program relies on volunteers to enhance residents’ lives. If interested, please call 326-8212 and ask for the Activity Director, Tom Mansfield.
