SRS Poker run set to unfold

The Saratoga Resort and Spa is set to put on their fourth annual snowmobile poker run.

The entry for the poker run this year is $25 and a contestant can pick up additional punch cards for $15 each.

If a person can’t participate in the run itself, the Resort would like to remind them that they can still buy a hand, and the Resort’s “mules” will have the hand punched at the designated stops. The $25 entry will also include lunch on the route, cooked by the local fire department. The proceeds from the poker run will benefit local search and rescue organizations.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at either the Rendezvous Lodge, at Ryan Park, or at the chains end parking lot. The Resort will have tents set up at both spots and participants can start from either location.

A grand prize, a prize for best and worst hands and a prize for the second best hand will be bestowed upon the luckiest participants of the day.

The grand prize will be a $500 Visa card and snowmobile jacket and the other prizes include a survival backpack, a 2012 EVS race collar and a Saratoga Resort jersey and beanie cap.

There are five stops on the poker run and the last hand will be given out at 2 p.m. at the Resort and Spa.

Awards for the poker hands start at the Resort at 5 p.m. and the rest of the awards will be given before the live music starts at 8 p.m.

The evening’s entertainment is Cedar Pass with Mark Jones.

Susan Wallace with the Resort said the snow machines are all rented for the weekend, but they have helmets and snowmobile apparel for rent.

Arrangements can be made to have the items at the run start.

Contact the Resort at 326-5261 for more information.
