States involved in Colorado River Compact discussing alternative options as reservoir capacity decreases

The mismatch between the supply of water the Colorado River can provide and the demand for its resource throughout the West has given rise to plans proposed this spring to reduce the level of consumption and rebuild storage at Lake Powell Reservoir.

The states that draw water from the river proposed the plans this spring. They have yet to reach a consensus.
