Panthers Feel Right At Home

Saratoga Track and Field gets top finishes as they host annual home track meet

There was no place like home for the Panthers as they hosted the Burt Willford Memorial Invitational Track Meet on April 24.

Rex Hohnholt, head coach for Saratoga Track and Field, said the most special time of the year is when Saratoga hosts its track meet in honor of his longtime friend and colleague. He said he’s thankful of all the people who took time out of their busy schedules to help our track meet run so smoothly.

“The Burt Willford Memorial Invitational gives us time each year to remember a colleague, coach, teacher and friend that we lost way too young,” Hohnholt said. “His laughter and easygoing nature resonate with those of us who knew him. We miss him, his legacy lives on and he will never be forgotten. As coaches, we hope to have a positive impact in some way on the young people we come in contact with every day, but little do those athletes know they impact our lives just as much as we hope to have done for them”.

Hohnholt said he was excited to see more of his student athletes qualifying for the State Championship.

“I can’t praise our kids enough for the effort they give us day in and day out, but more importantly, we can’t thank them enough for all they stand for that is good in this world,” Hohnholt said. “We appreciate all you do and thank you for being such great role models for younger Panthers to emulate in the future.”
