Public input sought on land use plan

Carbon County seeking feedback from residents, businesses on plan which will guide next 20 years of development

While there’s been plenty of statewide attention and public input on a natural resource plan for the Red Desert in neighboring Sweetwater County, Carbon County is seeking input for its 2024 Land Use Plan.

In a press release, the County announced it is seeking feedback from the public as it reviews and updates the land use plan, which will help guide development for the next two decades. According to the press release, a public input survey is now available where citizens can offer their vision for the County. They can also use the survey to reflect on what a high quality of life will mean for future generations of Carbon County.

The intent of the survey is to understand what the priorities of the county should be and to help identify topics to focus on in the final plan. When it is completed, the plan will make recommendations for goals and policies as to how the county achieves the community’s vision.

The Carbon County Land Use Plan serves as the basis for economic development, quality residential growth and general improvements to ensure Carbon County is home to vibrant communities for residents and businesses. Community input drives the overall development of the plan and planning process and is vital to the success of the plan. The public input process is a chance for the residents of Carbon County to share their values, vision and hopes for the future of the County and its communities.

The survey is open until January 5, 2024. Paper copies of the survey are available at the Carbon County Clerk’s Office, at 215 W. Buffalo Street, Suite 217, in Rawlins. Residents can also go online to take the survey, which can be found at www.bit.ly/cclup.
