Panther grapplers place at State

Four of ten Saratoga wrestlers place in Casper

The Saratoga Panther wrestling team traveled early to Casper for the State Championship tournament, leaving on Monday in order to beat the incoming blizzard. Ten of the eleven qualified Panther wrestlers competed at State.

Anthony Campbell was unable to wrestle due to an injury suffered at Regionals. In the 2A class, Saratoga placed 10th out of 21 teams and had four individual contestants who fought their way to the podium. Tuker Carricato made the Championship match but just came up short and brought home the silver medal. Other placers were Josiah Stockwell (3rd), Quade Jordan (4th), and a fifth place finish for senior Slayd Daley.

Tuker Carricato (28-9 record) placed 2nd in the 120-pound bracket. After receiving a bye, his first win was a fall against Loomis Alexander (Greybull/Riverside). In the semifinal match, Carricato destroyed Wyitt Knight from Wright with a lightening quick pin. Tuker faced Nathan Fish (Niobrara) in the finals. After a hard fought battle, Carricato lost by fall to Fish and secured the runner-up position. Tuker received All State honors in addition to his silver medal.

Josiah Stockwell (23-9) also reached the podium for the Panthers. In the 113-pound class, Stockwell won his initial match by fall over Tryzmen Green (Shoshoni). Next up was Ethan Tarango from Shoshoni, whom he beat by decision. Jackie Meador (Big Piney) defeated Stockwell by decision in the semifinals. Josiah beat his next opponent, Austin Christen from Kemmerer, for a shot at 3rd place, which he won by decision over Big Piney's other 113 pounder, Dominic Sanchez.

A solid tournament by Quade Jordan (31-9) saw him place 4th at 195 pounds. Jordan won his first two matches by fall. Round one was against Hunter Aagard (Rocky Mountain) and the second win was versus Lovell's Curtis Miller. The semifinals matched Jordan against Thomas Howard (Big Piney), and that loss set him up against Niobrara's Blake Miller. After pinning Miller, Quade was pinned by Dylan Hagler (Kemmerer) for fourth place.

Senior Slayd Daley (21-10) finished the season with a win for 5th place at 145 pounds. Daley won his first outing by major decision over Seth Needham (Thermopolis). Slayd lost by decision in the quarterfinals to Cokeville's Micah Petersen but then achieved a major decision over Bridger Anderson (Kemmerer). Daley split his next two matches, first pinning Caden Clifford (Big Piney) and then losing a decision to Louden Bremer (LFL/SE). The fight for 5th saw Daley win a close decision over Tucker Edwards from Wright.

Representing the 126 pound class was Allyster Ingraham (39-8). Ingraham won by fall over Karsen Maas (Glenrock) and then lost by fall in the quarterfinals to Will Ward from Thermopolis. Allyster split his final two matches, winning a decision versus Wyatt Pennington (Moorcroft) but was eventually defeated by Wind River's Aidan Ruby.

Saratoga two 170-pound wrestlers were Silas Vannett (17-18) and Douglass Campbell (7-14). Vannett initially lost to Jacob Brown (Tongue River) by fall and was then pinned by Cokeville's Ryder Pope in his second match.
