LSRV gets two wins against Lady Pronghorns as regular season ends
The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers went 2-2 last week as they ended their regular season with four conference games: two against the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns and two against the Cokeville Lady Panthers.
While the Lady Rattlers were able to sink their fangs into Farson-Eden twice, the Lady Panthers evaded their bite both time.
Lady Rattlers on the Road
On Monday, the Lady Rattlers made short work of the Lady Pronghorns in an away conference game. They beat Farson in a handy manner 64 to 23.
The next night at Cokeville, the Lady Panthers chomped on the Lady Rattlers, beating them, 49 to 36.
The LSRV team left earlier than the boys and were able to head home and make it before bad weather, unlike the boys team which had to stay in Rock Springs for two days.
Lady Rattlers at Home
On Friday the Cokeville Lady Panthers came to LSRV for a rematch and the result was the same. Cokeville won 47 to 26. The last game of the regular season for the Lady Rattlers was against the Lady Pronghorns and LSRV won again in a decisive manner 58 to 10.
Head Coach Mark Gillies was happy the team finished the season on a high note.
The Lady Rattlers, like their male counterparts, are the No. 4 seed in the 1A Southwest Conference as they go off to regionals.
The team left on Monday afternoon to avoid a possible snow storm predicted.
“I told the girls as we headed off, every team is now a clean slate,” Gillies said. “Every team is equal right now.”
The team the Lady Rattlers faces first is the Burlington Lady Huskies.
“If we can put four quarters together, we can win,” Gillies said. “That is where we struggle at the moment. We will have a quarter here and there that are excellent and then we have some quarters that are not good. I feel if we put four quarters together consistently in a game, then we will see how far we can go.”
Gillies said playing four quarters consistently and well is the goal of the team as they approach regionals.
Gillies said the second loss to Cokeville made the team focus on beating Farson because the girls didn’t want to go into regionals, their last game as a loss.
“We were a bit more relaxed and played our game against Farson,” Gillies said. “It made the girls realize we can play consistent quarters if we really focus. It was a good confidence builder.”
