Saratoga Lady Panthers for the win

The Lady Panthers had a tough game Friday against Southeast at the University of Wyoming campus Arena Auditorium. They didn't win the game, but the memory of this game will be etched in their hearts forever. Coach Heather Bartlett said, "This was a pretty special event. We played Southeast girls who are number one in the state of Wyoming. There's a reason they are number one, they are a VERY talented team."

Bartlett went on to say that she was very pleased with the way her girls went out and played hard against them, even though they are a big team and pretty intimidating. She said that overall, she felt this was a good game for the team and helped them get used to playing against tough competition in preparation for the regionals.

Olivia Everett scored 13 points for the Panther team, Whitney Bennett picked up 11 points with 13 rebounds and 5 steals and Rhiwan Williams shot 4 points, with 5 rebounds. Although the game ended with Southeast Lady Cyclones scoring 49 points compared to Saratoga's 29, it isn't likely the Lady Panthers will forget this one for a long time.

On Saturday the Lady Panthers played on their home court in a very exciting conference game against Little Snake River's Lady Rattlers. The Panthers won. The game ended with a score of 50-44, after going into overtime. Bartlett said, "We started off the game great and went into the locker room at the half with a ten point lead."

Bartlett felt they came out really flat in the third quarter, which seems to be a continuing problem this year.

The Lady Rattlers closed the gap during the third quarter, but the Saratoga Lady Panthers rallied and were able to push the game into overtime in the fourth quarter.

Bartlett said, "Madison Teichman hit two huge 3's late in the game that changed the momentum in our favor and really helped put us over the top for the win. This was a big win for us and I am proud of the girls for showing grit at the end of the game and pulling through for the win.

Whitney Bennett had 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Madison Teichman had 10 points, 4 rebounds, Allie Condict had 5 points and 2 steals, and Rhiwan Williams had 2 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.

The Lady Panthers will face Farson-Eden's Pronghorns on Friday February 10 in Farson. Saturday they will play the Cokeville Panthers.
