Saratoga couple's cause of death unconfirmed

Sheriff’s office is investigating possible drug overdose

In a press release sent to the Saratoga Sun, Sheriff Alex Bakken said the death of a couple found in their apartment is still under investigation by the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Sheriff Bakken stated in the press release on the morning of Saturday, February 4, the Saratoga Police Department received a call for service to the 400 block of North Sharp Street for two unresponsive individuals at a residence. Deputies from Carbon County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene along with medical personnel. Both individuals were discovered deceased upon arrival. The individuals have been identified as Richard Heap, a 28 year old male and Megan Taylor Wingo, a 27 year old female. A drug overdose of fentanyl is currently being investigated as a possible cause of death. Foul play is not suspected at this time.

Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Bakken offer their condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.

A memorial has been scheduled for Friday, February 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the Platte Valley Community Center.
