Saratoga Lady Panthers lose traction

Panthers bounce some, fall to others

Saratoga's Lady Panthers fans had lots to cheer about last Tuesday when the Panthers faced the Miners in Hanna. Coach Heather Bartlett said that Hanna was a good game for them. "We were able to play our full bench, and all the girls got some good playing time and experience." Bartlett said they were also able to practice a few new things they had added in the week before. "Hanna is a young team and they played hard," said Bartlett.

Olivia Everett had 15 points with 1 assist and 1 steal.  Whitney Bennett had 10 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals.  Rhiwan Williams had 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.  Aspen Sewell had 6 points.

The Panthers faced LSRV's Lady Rattlers on Friday the 13th and it was an unlucky matchup for the Panthers. Winning the first quarter with a 4 point lead felt good, but things got tougher and they ended up losing 40-33 in this league game. The Panthers faced Rock River's Longhorns, only losing by one point, 43-42. Coach Barlett said, "We had two tough games this weekend. We ended up losing both of them by just a couple points. We were right there at the end of both games and in both games and just weren't quite able to close them out. We shot really poorly in both games. For some reason we were having trouble getting shots to fall all weekend, our free throws were even off from our usual percentage. The girls fought hard in both games and I was proud of their effort, there were just a couple of things that happened late in both games that shifted the momentum away from us.

Everybody showed up at practice today with a great attitude ready to work hard and get ready for our big conference games this weekend, they are a great group of girls who work hard and I am confident that we will come out of this little slump we are in.

In the Snake River game Whitney Bennett scored 16 points, 14 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 assists.  Olivia Everett had 5 points with 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Rhiwan Williams had 4 points, 4 rebounds, Anna Peterson had 3 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks, Madison Teichman had 3 points, and 6 steals.

In the Rock River game Whitney Bennett had 17 points, 16 rebounds  for a double double, she also had 5 assists and 5 steals, Rhiwan Williams had 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double double as well, she also had 2 steals and 2 assists. Madison Teichman had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Allie Condict had 4 points, and 2 steals. Olivia Everett had 4 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Anna Peterson had 2 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

The Lady Panthers will face Cokeville's Lady Panthers on January 20 and Farson-Eden's Lady Pronghorns on January 21. Both are conference games on Saratoga's home court.
