Brush Creek Resort founder Bruce White passed away at age 70
The world famous resort in the Valley loses visionary owner
January 19, 2023
Residents in the Platte Valley have watched the Brush Creek Ranch of days past turn into the Lodge and Spa at Brush Creek Ranch (Brush CreeK), which has been acclaimed by travel magazines as the premier resort in the United States.
This was due to the efforts of founder Bruce White.
When Bruce White started with the ranch, few saw what he had in mind. The luxury he brought to the Brush Creek made it a desired place for celebrities and those with serious wealth.
It is no understatement he changed the Valley, Carbon County and Wyoming with the Brush Creek Resort.
Bruce White was a hospitality industry icon and founder of not only Brush Creek, but he was founder and Chairman of White Lodging.
He died at the age of 70 after a nearly year-long battle with cancer.
Bruce White was a graduate of Purdue University, the Harvard Graduate School of Business O.P.M. Together with his wife, Beth, of 35 years, Bruce White has three adult children and he welcomed his first grandchild in 2021.
Bruce White was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Purdue University in 2011 where he served through early 2015. He is also a member of Purdue University's Business Hall of Fame.
His board involvement has included University of Chicago Hospitals; the Indiana Economic Development Corporation; the Chicago Economic Club; Big Shoulders Fund, the Terlato Wine Group, and Young Presidents Organization.
Condolences are pouring in from everywhere.
David Marriott, Chairman of the Board, Marriott International said, "The Whites have been friends of our family for as long as I can remember. My heart goes out to Beth, Corinne, Conner and Patrick (Otis). Your husband and father was a tremendous person and a hospitality industry icon. I learned a lot from his work ethic and ingenuity. We shared an important core value to always focus on our people. Bruce made it his business to not only grow White Lodging, but to provide opportunities for thousands of employees over the years. He also focused on the next generation of hotel leaders by generously supporting hospitality education. To Bruce's wonderful family, friends and colleagues, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and we are here for you during this difficult time."
