Violence erupts after the parade

Local man assaulted Saturday night after fun filled family events

Saratoga Police Officers responded to a report of an assault Saturday night, following the Lighted Christmas Parade and Winter Wonderland.

Saratoga Police Chief Ken Lehr told the Saratoga Sun a fight broke out on Elm Street across from the Platte Valley Community Center. A Saratoga man was inolved in an argument with two men from Rawlins and was assaulted by the two men. According to Lehr, the men used a handgun to beat their victim before they fled the scene.

Lehr said the victim was transported by South Central Wyoming Emergency Services (SCWEMS) ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County and treated for his injuries.

Carbon County Sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle driven by the assailants. Both men were arrested and charged with aggravated assault. They are currently being held at Carbon County Jail.
