The Runaway Lunchbox opens its doors

Breakfast and lunch offered al fresco

"It started as an ice cream truck," said Michelle Wolfard when asked what led her to be the owner of a food truck. Wolfard had seen a modified golf cart that was turned into an ice cream vending trailer. She remembered loving those as a kid and thought it would be fun. Unfortunately, she missed out on buying that vehicle, but a couple years later her dream came true. Wolfard was able to purchase a trailer with a shed sitting on it. The shed had already been turned into a food truck and just needed some upgrades to bring it up to code.

Wolfard decided that she wanted to do more than just ice cream, she wanted to actually serve food. Wolfard also added a small addition to the back of the building and purchased a few more appliances.

Wolfard was able to open her doors this summer. She's glad it hasn't been super busy, which is a blessing. It's given her the opportunity to work out the kinks and stay 100% involved in the business. Wolfard said she is learning what people want and appreciates all the input. She currently works two other jobs so her hours are limited right now, generally from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
