Rattlers give JV team experience

LSRV used their younger players in win against Rock River JV

The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Rattler High School football team went to Rock Springs to play the Rock Springs High School (RSHS) Tiger JV football team in a non-conference game. It was a game, the Rattlers got a chance to give their younger players an opportunity to get some experience on the field.Rattler head coach Jack Cobb said in the 1st quarter he played his starters and in the 2nd quarter he started putting  in some of the players of his JV team.“I mixed them in with the varsity for a little bit, just so they could get a look of what next year is going to be like,” Cobb said. “Everyone ran well. I was pretty happy with what I saw.”Kannadis Peroulis, a leading scorer for the team rested for this week. “Hadley (Myers) scored two touchdowns, so he got a little time on the field, and Tanner Duncan caught a touchdown pass, and I saw things I was hoping to see happen,” Cobb said. “Playing Rock Springs JV gave my starters a chance to play a little and then my JV players got time too. This was way better than having a bye week. It was good.”Other scoring players were Bridger Cozzens, Seth Maxson, Hunter Jones and Wade Carson. All rushed in for a touchdown. The defense had many contributing players, with almost a half dozen getting five tackles. Cobb saw a lot of players getting tackles. It made him feel good about the coming week. The Rattlers will be facing Hulett on October 28 on their own turf.Cobb said in the playoffs any team can have a day where they win so he is not talking Hulett lightly, but he suspects when it comes to the semi-finals, he believes there is a strong chance the Rattlers will be playing Encampment.“One team not to underestimate is Burlington,” Cobb said. “They are good this year, and I believe there is a good chance you will see them in the semi-finals against Dubois. Again, anything can happen.”He said all the teams who made the playoffs are good and to be taken seriously..“I have told the boys, I look for them to get better week after week. They are doing exactly that,” Cobb said. “We are pretty healthy too. We should be in practice as healthy as we have been all year. I expect to see 22 kids on the field and that hasn’t happened since the 2nd week.”Cobb looks forward to the playoffs because his team is committed to go the distance to the championship.“They are a fun bunch to be around,” Cobb said. “It is a bunch to coach.”
