New school record set at Cross Country Meet

Panthers Cross Country team has great performance in Cheyenne

Cheyenne Leroy Sprague Memorial Cross Country meet was held in Cheyenne on Friday Oct. 7.  Coach Hohnholt expressed his pride in saying this, “All I can say is wow. We had some amazing performances from all our kids. With just a couple of exceptions most of the athletes ran seasonal bests or lifetime bests this weekend. Highlights for the week included Grant’s school record for 5,000 meters and Grady’s number three performance in school history as well. Marilee Williams posted her first sub 21 minute 5,000 meter run and the girls team posted an incredible 1 min and 42 second separation between our 1st and 6th runner.   Not to be outdone was Jett Arney’s 16:13 time for 2.5 miles which is a 6:29 per mile pace and Cody Sewell 16:46 run which was a 6:42 per mile pace. The way we performed this weekend should give all our athletes a lot of confidence heading into the state cross country championships  held on Saturday Oct. 22. Can’t say enough how proud I am to watch our athletes complete. We have an incredible group who not only know the power of hard work and determination, but have an even greater aptitude for getting the most out of their abilities on a weekly basis. Just so excited to see all 25 of our athletes experience so much success this weekend.  Congratulations to you all and well deserved”.
