Rattlers don't fear Devils
LSRV takes on Hulett and proves again this week they have a winning team
October 6, 2022
The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Rattler High School football team went up against the Hulett Devils in Midwest last Saturday and won in the usual manner.
The score was 52 to 0.
Rattlers Head Coach, Jack Cobb, was pleased–not only with the game–but also that the Rattlers and Devils finished before a torrential rainstorm hit.
“Hulett is a good team with some physical size and I challenged the boys to come out and take care of business,” Cobb said. “And they did just that.”
The Rattlers scored in the 1st quarter and early in the 2nd with enough points, Cobb decided to put his JV team in to give them experience.
“I didn’t want to run up the score too much; but there was a storm coming in and I didn’t want to have the team caught out in it, if we could avoid it,” Cobb said. “We started the game early hoping to miss it. We did and missed it by minutes. We hit it just perfectly because when we came out of the locker room, it was pouring.”
Cobb said they had the clock running which helped beat the bad weather.
He said the team did a bit more diverse plays.
The Rattlers had three quarterbacks who all threw for touchdowns. Zane Matheson, Hadley Myers and Mason Jones.
Cobb said he was excited to see how the three quarterbacks worked together. “Kanandis (Peroulis) and Hadley (Myers) each carried the ball only a couple times and both got two touchdowns. When they carried the ball, they made it count when they did.”
Peroulis caught two passes for two touchdowns and had the most tackles on the team with eight. Jaden Thomas also caught a pass for a touchdown.
Cobb knows his next game against the Encampment Tigers is going to be a challenge.
“Quade Jordan is someone you have to have an answer for and Pickett plus Henrie are doing a good job throwing the ball,” Cobb said. “It is going to be a tough game, but I like games like this.”
Cobb went on to say, “Last year we handled them two times and I don’t doubt this year, they are going to want a little revenge.”
The game will be played in Encampment on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
