Prepping for the Holiday Season

Holiday shopping and entertainment are right out your backdoor in the North Platte Valley.

Community Choirs in both Saratoga and Encampment are preparing for the upcoming holiday season.

The Saratoga Community Choir will have their Christmas Concert performance on December 11 at 4 p.m. at the Platte Valley Community Center Theater. Until then, they have practice every Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. To join in on the fun, call Valerie Larscheid at 307-321-8865 for more information.

Encampment’s Community Choir will be December 7 at 6 p.m. at the Opera House. They will practice every Monday evening at the Grand Encampment Opera House at 6 p.m. There are no auditions and you do not need to be able to read music to participate. All you need is to love singing!

Craft Fairs given by nonprofit organizations are a great way to get your Christmas shopping done early and enjoy all the goodies for sale.

The Sagebrush Senior Center in Encampment will be having a Chili and Pie Lunch and craft show October 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A variety of pies and chili will be offered. Many local crafters are bringing quilted items, homemade salsas, jams and a terrific selection of soaps as well. You can also find handmade beaded jewelry and baked goods. Raffle tickets for the quilt that is handmade by the seniors will be on sale until 1 p.m. when the drawing takes place. All proceeds go to the Encampment Senior Center.

The Saratoga Holiday Bazaar will be in full swing once again at the Great Hall in the Platte Valley Community Center Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a huge array of items to purchase for gifts and yourself. Generally, there are over 40 vendors featuring hand made crafts and gifts. A few direct sales vendors also participate.

The bazaar began over 30 years ago and was sponsored by Xi Beta Epsilon until 2020.

This year the bazaar is co-sponsored by the Saratoga World Culture Club and Saratoga FCCLA. The Culture Club is an organization that promotes international travel for students and their families. They are raising money for a trip to Ireland and Scotland in 2023.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a student group that focuses on educating students in Family and Consumer Sciences. They are raising money to attend their state and national conventions.

Cost of admission is 25 cents. The FCCLA will have homemade soup and chili for lunch as well as sweet treats and drinks for sale.
