Fifteenth annual Party on the Platte

Fundraiser at the Platte Valley Community Center is a huge success

The 15th annual Party on the Platte fundraiser was a huge success.

Every year, the Platte Valley Community Center (PVCC) Foundation puts on this event either Friday or Saturday depending on when the University of Wyoming's football game is happening. The lesson was learned at earlier events, people do not like to miss their favorite team playing.

Approximately 160 people attended the event catered by the Hotel Wolf.

According to PVCC Executive Director Joe Elder, $75,515 gross was raised. This is a generous community.

Funds were raised from table sponsorships, individual ticket sales, a silent and live auctions of items donated by the local businesses.

Each year the PVCC Foundation has a specific project in mind for the money they raise. This year it will be their security system that will be upgraded to the latest technology due to the fact the original system and needs major upgrades. They will also install more cameras in the gym and the community center for better security. Electronic locks will be installed to do away with all the keys and provide a better tracking system for everyone that has access to the buildings.

Next year the Party on the Platte will celebrate their Sweet 16. The PVCC wants to plan something special to celebrate. Elder said they hadn't make any decisions yet as to what that would entail.
