Short and sweet

Riverside Town Council meets in under 15 minutes

The Riverside Town Council met on February 10 at the Riverside Town Hall. In attendance were mayor pro tem Ed Golden, council members Fred Lorenz, Mark Helwick, and Town/treasurer Jan Cook.

The council meeting ended up breaking a record set by Lorenz when he was mayor pro term some time back. The record for the quickest meeting then was 17 minutes.

It didn’t take long for the agenda and minutes from the January 13 regular meeting.

Four minutes into the meeting, the financials were approved.

Concerning the Parks, Cook told the council that the new equipment for Rick Martin Memorial Park had been purchased and was estimated to be delivered at the end of March.

“Hopefully the will call us and not just show up,” Cook said.

Golden asked if there would be labor expense for setting up the equipment in the park. Cook told him Mayor Leroy Stephenson was currently away until March, which took care of manpower needs.

There could be some leveling of the ground required.

“The company offered to do that and set it up for $15,000,” Cook said.

“We can get it done for a lot cheaper than that,” Golden said.

Cook said the equipment came with plans and she estimated that it would be ready for use by May.

“We should have a ribbon cutting,” Golden said.

Another park event was discussed. Cook confirmed High Plains Tradition to play on Riverside’s Party Day. It will be held on August 20. Cook said she has sent in the grant to Carbon County Recreation Board Grant that had been due February 15.

There was no discussion on the other reports, nor was there any new or old business to discuss.

The council adjourned just as the clock hit 14 minutes.

“Ed just broke Fred’s record,” Cook laughed.

The next regular meeting will be at 6 p.m. on March 10 at the Riverside Town Hall.
