Lady Rattlers sink fangs into regular season

LSRV volleyball secures two conference wins ahead of regional tournament

The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers closed their regular season with two conference wins as they prepare for the 1A West Regional Tournament this weekend.

On Friday, the Lady Rattlers hosted the Encampment Lady Tigers and, on Saturday, LSRV was hosted by the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns. In both matches, LSRV came away with a win in three sets.

"I am very proud of how the girls came to play and finished our regular season with two wins," said Head Coach Jenny Evans.

Lady Rattlers vs. Lady Tigers

For their final home game of the season, the Lady Rattlers hosted Encampment and secured their first conference win of the weekend. The 1st set saw LSRV lead 25-10 over the Lady Tigers. In the 2nd set, Encampment clawed their way back, but the Lady Rattlers ultimately took the middle set 25-15. The final set of the match between LSRV and the Lady Tigers saw the Lady Rattlers win 25-9 over Encampment.

Kylie Montgomery led LSRV in attacking the net with a total of 14 kills and was followed by Skylynn Ready with 11 kills. Catrina Habel and Cashley Criswell both had 4 kills against Encampment. In serving, Kylie Evans led with 4 aces and was followed by Ready and Regina Herrera who each served 2 aces.

Defensively, Evans led with 20 digs against the Lady Tigers and was followed by Ready with 12 digs and Destre Kaisler with 11 digs.

Lady Rattlers vs. Lady Pronghorns

One day after securing a win for their final home game of the season, LSRV traveled to Farson-Eden and dealt a loss to the Lady Pronghorns. In the 1st set, the Lady Rattlers took out Farson-Eden with a score of 25-14. LSRV saw similar scoring in the 2nd set as they led 25-15. In the 3rd set, the Lady Rattlers ended the match with a score of 25-19.

Montgomery, again, led in attacking the net with 15 kills. Ready followed with 5 kills and Criswell had 4 kills. In serving, Evans served 4 aces against the Lady Pronghorns and was followed by Kaisler with 3 aces and Katelynn Englehart with 1 ace for a team total of 8 aces. On the defense, Evans led with 27 digs against Farson-Eden. Ready followed with 9 digs and Kasiler had 8 digs.

With a season record of 23-4-2 and a conference record of 7-1, the Lady Rattlers sit at No. 1 in the 1A Southwest Conference, taking over the Cokeville Lady Panthers in the final matches of the regular season. Their No. 1 ranking puts them in a good position for the 1A West Regional Tournament in Lander on Friday.

The first match for LSRV will be against the No. 4 Northwest ranked Ten Sleep Lady Pioneers. The Lady Rattlers will face off against the Lady Pioneers at 10 a.m. on October 29 at the Field House at Lander High School. The winner of that match will go on to face the winner of the matchup between No. 3 Southwest ranked Saratoga Lady Panthers and No. 2 Northwest ranked Burlington Lady Huskies.
