Saratoga takes a hit from Cyclones

Panthers fall 48-16 to Southeast

The Saratoga High School Panthers went to Southeast High School in Yoder where the Panthers lost the game.

The 1st quarter the Cyclones scored twice.

“We started slow and gave up the first two touchdowns,” Head Coach Logan Wright said. “We threw a pick six in the first half.”

The 2nd quarter didn’t go the Panthers way, much, but they did score 8 points. The Cyclones scored 21 making the half-time score 36-8.

“We ended the first half on one of our patented long lasting drives and got a 2 point conversion,” Wright said. Geoffrey (Johnson) connected with Heston (Fisher) for the touchdown and the 2 point conversion. We really ended the half on the high note of 21-8.”

The second half started with the Panthers receiving the ball.

“We got the ball back to start with, but then we fumbled,” Wright said.

The Cyclones scored 7 points in the 3rd quarter while the Panthers did not get any points on the board.

“It got out of hand pretty quick as we couldn’t string together stops against a very fast running back,” Wright said.

The Panthers did score 8 points to the Cyclones’ 6 points in the 4th quarter, but it was not enough to make a difference in the outcome of the game.

Southeast won 48-16.

The Panthers are 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play. They are 6th in the division.

The next scheduled game is on October 15 against Wright High School in Wright.
