Lady Rattlers go 1-1

LSRV netters win over HEM, fall to Cokeville

The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers went 1-1 last week with a non-conference win over the Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) Lady Miners and a conference loss to the Cokeville Lady Panthers.

As volleyball nears the midseason mark, the Lady Rattlers are sitting at the No. 2 spot in the competitive 1A Southwest Conference.

Lady Rattlers vs. Lady Miners

The Lady Rattlers hosted HEM on September 17 to begin their weekend. After two conference games the week before and another one set for September 18, hosting the Lady Miners provided LSRV a chance to play against a team from the 1A Southeast Conference. 

Though HEM put up a fight against the Lady Rattlers, LSRV would manage to sink their fangs into the Lady Miners for a 3-0 win on Friday afternoon. The 1st set saw a close score, with the Lady Rattlers winning 25-21 while the 2nd set ended with a score of 25-9. In the 3rd set, LSRV saw a bit more of a fight from the Lady Miners with a final score of 25-16.

Skylynn Ready led the Lady Rattlers in attacking the net as she had 9 kills against HEM. Kylie Evans followed with 8 kills and Cashley Criswell had 4 kills. Evans would also serve 3 acces against the Lady Miners, as would Katelynn Englehart.

Evans was also the lead defender with a total of 19 digs against HEM. Ready followed with 12 digs and Regina Herrera had a total of 8 digs.

Lady Rattlers vs. Lady Panthers

After hosting the Lady Miners on Friday, LSRV hit the road and were hosted by Cokeville on Saturday. The Lady Panthers, who are currently the No. 1 ranked team in the 1A Southwest Conference and four-time 1A State Champions, dealt the Lady Rattlers their first conference loss of the season.LSRV, however, wouldn’t let the Lady Panthers swat them away too easily. The 1st set saw the Lady Rattlers trail by only 7 points as they fell 18-25. The 2nd set ended with a score of 15-25 and the score in the 3rd set was 11-25.

Despite the score, LSRV managed to get some marks on the Lady Panthers. Kinlie Montgomery led the Lady Rattlers in attacking the net with 11 kills and was followed by Ready and Criswell, who each had 4 kills. The only ace scored against Cokeville came from Destre Kaisler.

In defending the Lady Rattler court, Evans had a total of 22 digs against the Lady Panthers and was followed by Englehart with 9 digs and Ready with 8 digs.

The loss to Cokeville gives the Lady Rattlers only their second loss of the season and their first conference loss. After last week, LSRV is 12-2 for the season and 2-1 for conference play. They have only one game this week as they host the Saratoga Lady Panthers.

The Little Snake River Valley Lady Rattlers will host the Saratoga Lady Panthers at 5 p.m. on September 24.
