LSRV sinks in fangs

The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers got the chance to stretch their fangs this past weekend as they headed south into Colorado for the SoRoCo Volleyball Tournament in Oak Creek. 

While there, the Lady Rattlers went 3-1 as they defeated Gilpin County, the Moffat County Lady Bulldogs and the Roaring Fork Lady Rams. LSRV did drop one match, as they fell to the SoRoCo Lady Rams.

Lady Rattlers vs. Gilpin County

The Lady Rattlers came out strong in their first match of the pre-season tournament as they dispatched Gilpin County in three sets. The first set saw LSRV end with a 12 point lead, 25-13. In the second set, Gilpin County fought to regain some ground but, ultimately, lost the second set with the Lady Rattlers winning 27-25. In the third set, LSRV dominated the net again as they ended the set with a score of 25-17.

Lady Rattlers vs. Lady Bulldogs

After sinking their fangs into Gilpin County, LSRV went on to face the Lady Bulldogs where they, again, went 3-0. In the 1st set, Moffat County attempted to show they had some bark with their bite as they kept the score close but the Lady Rattlers ultimately won 25-23. The Lady Bulldogs appeared to drag a little bit in the 2nd set, as LSRV dispatched them with a score of 25-12. In the 3rd set, however, Moffat County attempted to make a comeback. The Lady Rattlers, however, ensured another victory as they ended the set 25-23.

Lady Rattlers vs. Roaring Fork

Heading into the third of four games, the Lady Rattlers faced the Lady Rams of Roaring Fork. While they would lose one set, they would finish the match going 3-1. The 1st set saw LSRV with a sizable lead as they ended with a score of 25-8. In the subsequent sets, however, the Lady Rams would not be so easily dispatched.

In the 2nd set, Roaring Fork came away with a win as they dropped the Lady Rattlers 25-27. In the 3rd set, however, LSRV bit back and came away with a score of 25-23. The 4th and final set saw a similar score, as the Lady Rattlers ended it 25-22.

Lady Rattlers vs. SoRoCo

From one team of Lady Rams to another, LSRV went on to face SoRoCo but would get their only loss of the tournament. In the 1st set, the Lady Rams delt a loss to the Lady Rattlers with a score of 22-25. LSRV came back with a win of their own in the 2nd set, ending it with a score of 25-19. In the next two sets, however, SoRoCo would get to the required 25 points while keeping the Lady Rattlers at 18 points and 17 points, respectively.

Following the first pre-season tournament of the year, the Lady Rattlers are 3-1 for the season. Another tournament awaits them this weekend as they compete in the Wind River Tournament on September 3 and 4 in Pavillion.
