UW awards Saratoga scholars

Two students receive top academic scholarship

Two Saratoga students were among the 101 recently named by the University of Wyoming (UW) as having received the university’s top academic scholarship, the 2021 Trustees’ Scholars Award.

The scholarship, available to Wyoming resident high school seniors, covers actual credit hours taken as well as room and board costs for eight semesters at UW, starting with the fall 2021 semester. The 101 students selected come from 34 high schools throughout the states.

According to a press release from the university, recipients of the scholarship are evaluated on their academic excellence, which includes their high school grade-point average, their ACT and SAT scores and their curriculum rigor. Additionally, individual interviews were held. The average GPA among recipients this year is 3.97 and the average ACT score is 32.

To retain the scholarship all four years at UW, students must maintain full-time continue enrollment of at least 12 semester hours during the fall and spring semesters along with a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Of the two Saratoga seniors awarded this scholarship, one is Saratoga High School senior Katelyn Bifano. The other is Kaitlyn Campbell, who is enrolled in Wyoming Virtual Academy.
