Saratoga starts off well

Panther wrestlers see wins in half of matches wrestled

The Saratoga High School wrestling team started their season this weekend with meets at Wind River on Friday and Lovell on Saturday. The teams that attended the Wind River meet were: HEM, Dubois, Wind River and Saratoga. At the Lovell Invite, teams that attended were: Greybull/Riverside, Dubois, Lovell, Rocky Mountain, Saratoga, Tongue River and Wind River.

Saratoga Head Coach Jared Mason was happy how the grapplers fared over the weekend.

“The Saratoga Panthers wrestling team traveled to Wind River and Lovell this past weekend, and got off to a good start,” Mason said. “They wrestled 50 matches against Wind River, HEM, Dubois, Greybull, Rocky Mountain, and Lovell winning half of the total matches wrestled.”

Mason was happy that newcomers for the team did well.

“Congratulations to freshmen Josiah Stockwell, Seven Patrick, and Douglass Campbell for earning their first high school varsity wins,” Mason said. “Special recognition goes out to Cale Mowry and Kellen Reeder for their four and one individual performances on the weekend.”

The coach was happy with several of his returning wrestlers.

“Ben Wagy doubled his wins from all of last season, and is recognized with Cale and Kellen as this week’s Outstanding Panther Wrestlers,” Mason said.

He told them to keep up the good work.

Saratoga will be wrestling at home this Thursday evening against Laramie and HEM which was recently put back on the schedule.

Mason had a message for the Panther wrestling fans.

“We would love your support, so please plan to attend,” Mason concluded.
