Jonathan C. Schnal

Jonathan C. Schnal, 52, resident of Encampment, Wyoming, died at Memorial Hospital in Rawlins on October 7, 2020.

Jonathan was born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula in northern California where his father's career as an attorney and avocation as an outdoorsman both influenced his future. He earned both a B.A. in History an M.A. in Land Use Planning from Humboldt State University before he began working as a county planner in Arcata and Quincy, California, and in Rawlins, Wyoming.

After earning a J.D. from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Organ Jonathan obtained admission to the Bar Associations in Washington State, California, and Wyoming, ultimately returning to Carbon County, Wyoming, to open his own law firm in Saratoga in 2013. He loved the small-town rural life and tight-knit communities he found in Wyoming, and he never tired of the natural beauty of the Platte Valley.

In the last five years, Jonathan sought and developed a Christian faith and found a spiritual home in the Baptist church. As his health deteriorated, Jonathan was lovingly cared for by Interim Pastor Mike Wilcox and the generous community of Calvary Church Encampment (formerly Foothills Baptist Church).

Jonathan is preceded in death by his parents, Joyce and Richard Schnal of Monterey, California. He will be missed most deeply by his sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Mark Silber, his niece and nephew, Maya Silber and Noah Silber, and his best friend, Erik Gantenbein, all of whom reside near Sacramento, California.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Church, 504 Freeman Avenue, Encampment, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 15.

Contributions in his memory will be gratefully accepted by Calvary Church Encampment. The family can be reached at [email protected].
