Encampment Town Council accepts bid for new police truck
The Encampment Town Council held a special meeting October 1, 2020 to decide which bid to accept for a new truck for Police Chief Kevin Shue.
The meeting lasted less than 10 minutes.
Shue said that he researched the company that had put in the bid for the trucks with the light kits already installed and was concerned because he could not find any information on the company prior to July of this year. The council agreed that since that company was also out of state and new, they would not go with them.
Shue then informed the council that the Chevrolet had better wiring than the remaining trucks that were bid. The Chevrolet also has a boosted out-put system for the alternator which increases electricity. This system would not be as hard on the battery when the lights are used for extended periods of time.
Shue also requested a few options that Chevrolet offers, off road shocks, a power seat and dark tinted glass for the back windows. These options would raise the price from $31,130 to $32,715. The council agreed the options would be beneficial. The motion was passed to accept the bid for the Chevrolet with the additional options.
The next regular meeting of the Encampment Town Council will be October 8, 2020 at 7 p.m at the Encampment Town Hall.
