Hanna netters go 1-1

Lady Miners have win-loss weekend

The first game of the season, the Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) girls volleyball team was a resounding victory.

The Lady Miners met Lingle/Ft. Laramie at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday at Lingle High School. The Lady Doggers didn’t stand a chance as HEM won the first game 25-10, the second game 25-10 and the last game 25-12.

The Lady Miners didn’t get much of a break, finding themselves playing Southeast High School at 4:15 p.m. The Lady Miners did not fare so well against the Lady Cyclones.

It might be that the Lady Cyclones had lost to Moorcroft earlier in the day and wanted to extract some vengeance on their next opponent, or that the Lady Miners were tired after playing earlier.

Whatever the reason, Southeast won the first encounter in a close game 22-25. The next game went badly for the Lady Miners and they lost 13-25. However HEM was far from calling it quits as they won the match 25-21. Southeast was not going to be denied victory. They beat HEM 21-25.

It is early in the season and head coach Jackie Jones knows her team is still learning to play together.

The next scheduled game is at 5 p.m. on September 3 at HEM where they will face Encampment’s Lady Tigers.
