Every Second Family

Has Car

There are now more than 21,000 automobiles in Wyoming, and that figure represents 5,000 more than the number of cars contained in the state a year ago, says the Wyoming State Tribune.

Figures compiled by members of the secretary of state’s office force and announced by Deputy H. M. Symons, show a total of 21,371 licenses issued last year, as compared with 16,200 for 1918. In addition, 353 motorcycles and 194 dealers’ licenses were granted, as compared with 313 and 169 for year before last. Mr. Symons estimates that the auto totals for 1920 will go to 26,000.

Figuring Wyoming’s population at 210,000 and five persons to a family, this would indicate that every second family in the state own an automobile.

Dog Poisoner Destroys

Pets on West Side

That honorable (?) rat, the dog poisoner, opened up for business again on Tuesday of this week, with fair results in the elimination of several pet dogs and cats of local families.

The dogs owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Fraizer and the W.R. Moore family were lost as result of the poison, while dogs owned by the Linden White and Jack Lake families were found in time to be saved. Dr. Bateman, local veterinarian, states that strychnine was the poison used. Apparently the poison was encased in rolls of hamburger, and scattered in such a manner that any dog or other pet passing by might find it. It was reported this noon that six or seven dogs, mostly pets of children, and several house cats had gotten the poison.

Several who lost pets are said to be quite incensed over the matter, and are considering a thorough investigation to try and learn the identity of the poisoner, and perhaps forestall a recurrence of such cowardly procedure in the future.
