Saratoga plays host to 5 schools for track meet, prequalifies four more for State competition

The Saratoga Panthers had a busy weekend for track and field as they hit the road on Friday to attend the Clint Wells Invitational meet in Craig, Colo., where they prequalified several girls for the State Championships, and hosted the Burt Willford Memorial Invite on Saturday, where they prequalified several more athletes. As the date for the State Track and Field Championship draws closer, the Panthers continue adding to their roster.

Girls in Craig

Starting with the field events, Tiffany Bauer placed 7th in shot put with a throw of 32'.5" that not only was her lifetime best, but secured her a spot at state.

In the track events, Savannah Wells placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.58. Along with being Wells' seasonal best, the finishing time also prequalified her to compete in state. Wells also placed 7th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.27.

Mychaela Jackman placed 6th in the 100 meter hurdles, three spots behind Wells, with a time of 17.9. Jackman's finishing time ensured her a spot at the State Track and Field Championship as well.

Boys in Craig

In the field events, Sam Schneider continued his reign in the three jump categories. Schneider placed 1st in the triple jump with a distance of 42'1", 2nd in the long jump with a distance of 18'10" and 2nd in the high jump with a height of 6'3".

Teegan Love also placed in the same events, placing 5th in the high jump with a height of 5'5", 7th in the triple jump with a distance of 36'11" and 7th in the long jump with a distance of 17'9.5".

On the track, the 800 meter relay team of Schneider, Noah Rimmer, Love and Logan Seahorn placed 6th with a time of 1:39.56.

Girls in Togie

Beginning with field events, Bauer placed 2nd in the shot put with a distance of 29'4.5" and was followed by Shianne Baker, who placed 3rd with a throw of 28'11". Heather Wallace placed 4th, throwing 22'10.5" and Nikki Bauer placed 5th with a throw of 22'.

Baker placed 2nd in discus, throwing a distance of 94'10.75" and was followed by T. Bauer, who placed 4th with a throw of 81'01", and N. Bauer, who placed 5th with a throw of 48'11.5".

In the long jump, Wells placed 1st with a distance of 14'04" and was followed by Kelly Glode in 3rd with a distance of 11'10.5" and Samantha Fiedor in 4th with a distance of 11'2.5".

Kaitlyn Campbell placed 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 27'10.5".

In the track events, Baker placed 1st in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.63. This finishing time has prequalified Baker for state. Also placing in the 100 meter dash were Mychaela Jackman, who finished 2nd with a time of 14.02, Jaden Campbell, who placed 6th with a time of 16.29, and N. Bauer, who placed 7th with a time of 16.32.

In the 200 meter dash, Samantha Fiedor placed 2nd with a time of 33.11. N. Bauer followed in 4th with a finishing time of 34.17. The 400 meter dash saw Glode place 3rd as she finished with a time of 1:16.21.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Wells placed 1st with a time of 18.03 and was followed by Jackman in 2nd with a time of 18.39, K. Campbell in 3rd with a time of 18.63, Melissa Pinedo in 4th with a time of 18.81, Fiedor in 5th with a time of 21.27 and J. Campbell in 6th with a time of 21.77.

Wells also placed 1st in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 54.62 and was followed by K. Campbell in 2nd with a time of 55.71, Pinedo in 3rd with a time of 56.33, Jackman in 4th with a time of 1:01.94, Fiedor in 5th with a time of 1:05.40 and J. Campbell in 7th with a time of 1:09.26.

Saratoga also ran two relay teams during the Burt Willford Invite with the 400 meter relay team of Baker, Pinedo, Wells and Jackman finishing with a time of 54.65 and prequalifying for state. The 1600 meter relay team of Pinedo, K. Campbell, Glode and Jenna Dew finished with a time of 5:03.59.

Boys in Togie

In the field events, Schneider placed 1st in the high jump with a height of 6'2" and was followed by Love in 2nd with a height of 5'6" and Kelton Johnson in 3rd with a height of 4'8". The pole vault saw Gavin Bartlett place 1st with a height of 10' and Logan Wells placed 2nd with a height of 7'6".

Schneider also placed 1st in long jump with a distance of 19'10.5". Love followed in 3rd place with a distance of 17'4.25", Wells placed 4th with a distance of 15'8" and Geoffrey Johnson placed 5th with a distance of 14'7". The triple jump saw Schneider also place 1st, this time with a distance of 41'2.75", followed by Love in 3rd with a distance of 36'2".

In the shot put, Noah Rimmer placed 2nd with a throw of 41'10.75". Rimmer's finishing distance also prequalified him for the State Track and Field Championship. Rimmer also placed 4th in discus with a throw of 97'1". Alex Irby placed 6th in discus with a throw of 80'1", Jordan Travis placed 8th with a throw of 79'1.5", Kaden Hedley placed 9th with a distance of 70' and Colin Greenberg placed 10th with a throw of 68'9.25".

In track, Logan Seahorn placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash, and prequalified for state, with a time of 11.99. Seahorn was followed by Rimmer, who placed 3rd with a time of 12.20. Greenberg placed 6th with a time of 13.75, Travis placed 7th with a time of 13.79, G. Johnson placed 9th with a time of 13.87 and Chris Foley was in 11th place with a time of 15.43.

In the 200 meter dash, Wells placed 2nd with a time of 26.99 and was followed by G. Johnson in 4th with a time of 28.54, Travis in 5th with a time of 29.70 and Foley in 6th with a time of 33.45.

Jeremiah placed 1st in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.50 and was followed by K. Johnson in 3rd with a time of 2:42.33. In the 1600 meter run, Bartlett placed 3rd with a time of 5:39.73.

In the 400 meter relay, the team of Debar, Rimmer, Love and Schneider placed 1st with a time of 49.65, in the 1600 meter relay, the team of K. Johnson, Debar, Seahorn and Bartlett finished with a time of 4:14.63 and, in the 3200 meter relay, the team of K. Johnson, Irby, Greenberg and G. Johnson finished with a time of 11:27.22

Saratoga also placed 1st in the 1600 sprint medley relay with the team of Bartlett, Seahorn, Irby and Wells finishing with a time of 4:27.19.

The regular season draws to a close as Saratoga hits the road, again, as they head to Thermopolis to compete in the Bobcat Invite on Friday.
