Betty May (Zeiger) Widner

Betty May (Zeiger) Widner, of Hanna, Wyo., went home to Jesus on Feb. 12, 2019. She was 89 ½ years old.

Betty was born to William and Missouri Zeiger, on July 7, 1929, in Rawlins, Wyo. The family moved to Saratoga while Betty was still an infant. She attended school in Saratoga. In the fall of 1946, she met Kenneth Widner, at a dance at the Fireman's Hall, in Saratoga. They were wed six weeks later on Nov.30, 1946. They were married for 58 years. To their union, five children were born: Sharon, Patricia (Pati), Fred, Elane (Lanie) and Robin. As well, she raised two granddaughters, Penny Martinez Iliff and Ginger Iliff Moore.

Betty was devoted to her family. She loved babies, animals, playing games, cooking and baking, singing and walking. She was very kind, giving and forgiving. Her heart was pure and tender and she was loved by many.

Betty is survived by four children: Sharon Widner, of Hanna, Pati (Chuck) Willman, of Saratoga, Fred (Brenda) of Greeley, Colo., and Elane (Bob) Giertz, of Waco, Texas.

Betty is survived by her sister, Donna Youngblood of Winona, Mo., two sisters-in-law, Ginette Zeiger of Abilene, Texas and Irene Coble of Greeley, Colo., and three "honorary" children: Kathy Hennek, Patti Ehrlich, and Kerry O'Brien. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Widner, infant daughter Robin, granddaughter Katy Jordan, her parents Bill and Missouri, seven siblings: sister Margaret and brothers Billy, Hank, Art, Kenny, Bud and Earl.

Celebration of Life services will be held Sat., Feb. 23, 2019, at 20 p.m. at Platte Valley Christian Center Assembly of God in Saratoga.
