Encampment goes 1-1

Lady Tigers fall to Lady Rattlers, Tigers add conference win

The Lady Tigers and Tigers of Encampment took to the road on Saturday where they were hosted by conference foes, the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers on Rattlers on Saturday. Descending into the Rattler Pit, the Lady Tigers succumbed to a nearly 30 point loss. The Tigers, meanwhile, remained undefeated as they pounced on the Rattlers with a 6 point victory - the closest game they've had so far this season.

Lady Tigers

"We didn't get off to a good start in this game," said Clint Bromley, head coach of the Lady Tigers. "We gave up 20 points in the first quarter and that told the story from start to finish. We lost the battle of the boards, and that is never a good sign or outcome."

In their fight against the Lady Rattlers (4-5, 1-1), senior Noelle Peterson scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Fellow senior Lauren Buford followed with 7 points and 5 rebounds, sophomore Lizzi James scored 6 points and had 9 rebounds and junior Riley Little scored 6 points and had 4 rebounds.

"We have to go back to the drawing board and see what we can do to minimize our turnovers and get more quality shots against a good team like LSRV," Bromley said.

A factor that the Lady Tigers are currently struggling with is sick and injured players.

"When you only have seven to begin with, that makes it even more difficult," said Bromley.

Following their loss of 32-60 to the Lady Rattlers, the Lady Tigers are 5-6 for the season and 1-1 for conference. This weekend they will host two more conference rivals, starting with the Cokeville Lady Panthers (11-2, 0-0) on Friday at 4 p.m. and the Farson-Eden Pronghorns (11-3. 1-0) on Saturday at noon.

Tigers

The Tigers just barely escaped the fangs of LSRV (6-4, 0-2) on Saturday as they defeated the Rattlers 62-56. Encampment, which is currently the No. 1 ranked team in the 1A Southwest Conference, added yet another conference win with the defeat of LSRV.

Sophomore Dalton Peterson led the Tigers with 20 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday, followed by junior Dayne Anderson with 13 points and senior Kyler Miller with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Following their win against the Rattlers, Encampment is 11-0 for the season and 2-0 for conference.

This weekend may be another close battle for the Tigers as they host two more conference rivals; the Cokeville Panthers (8-2, 0-0) on Friday at 4 p.m. and the Farson-Eden Pronghorns (11-1, 1-0) on Saturday at noon.
