Neimark set to 'kick it'

Jarrett Neimark to kick at 6th annual Wyoming/ Nebraska high school All-Star football game

The rosters are set for the Six-Man Shootout All-Star game between Wyoming and Nebraska's best small-school football players.

The sixth Nebraska-Wyoming Shootout Six-Man football game will be June 24 at Kaycee, the school being Wyoming's 2016 six-man champion. Wyoming leads the series 3-2, but Nebraska has won the past two meetings.

Kaycee's Lee Kremers, the head coach of Wyoming's All Star team, picked a Carbon County player to be his kicker.

Jarrett Neimark, a 2017 graduate of Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow (H.E.M.), who is going to Casper College to study Criminal Justice, will be playing his last high school football game at the shootout.

"Jarrett is reliable and accurate in his kicking and that is what got him in," said Kremers.

In Six-Man football, the point after kick counts for two instead of one and field goals count for four points.

"Games can be won or lost on the foot of the kicker," Kremers said. "They can make or break a team."

Kremer believes Wyoming's chances are good at beating Nebraska this year. His team won the Wyoming six man championship on what he called a pound and ground offense. He wants to see what will happen with the team of All Stars from the state behind his game plan of having strong blocking.

Neimark learned a couple months back he was selected and says he was is really happy to represent H.E.M.

One of his best friends from last year, Wyatt Philips, was selected last year and he told Neimark what an excellent time he had and Neimark has anticipation of having a similar experience.

Neimark will be in Kaycee starting June 21 to get room assignments, practice, and will attend a BBQ that will include playing horse shoes with Wyoming and Nebraska players. The next day will have two practices along with a softball game thrown in for fun. June 23 the players will go on a day hike to Outlaw Canyon, then have an evening pratice. June 24 at 1 p.m. is kickoff where Wyoming hopes to win its fourth game of the series.

Neimark is glad to have the chance to play one last high school football game.

"It wouldn't have been possible to go if it wasn't for my coaches, teammates, school, friends and family," said Neimark. "Their support has meant everything."
