CCSD #2 asks for input on possible budget cuts

As most people are aware, the State of Wyoming is facing a shortfall in funding this year due to the recent downturn in the mineral industry. There are several bills that are moving through the legislature, most of which will require substantial budget cuts for Carbon School District #2 (CCSD #2).

The exact severity of the cuts probably won’t be known until the current legislative session closes on March 3.

Since CCSD #2 cannot wait that long to begin working on our budget, Superintendent Jim Copeland has released a survey to give any Parent or Community Member who wishes to give input.

This survey requires your name and community and/or the school which your student attends. It also allows for comments after each item and a general comment box at the end.

Participants are asked to rate certain items in importance from their perspective. The input will be considered as CCSD #2 moves forward to complete a budget. If there are major cuts required, some will likely touch personnel and programs.

The superintendent is hoping not have to make painful cuts, but wants to be prepared for all eventualities.

To access the survey, go to the Carbon County School District #2 website at http://www.crb2.k12.wy.us – or any CCSD #2 school website. Scroll down on the main page and you will see information regarding the survey. Simply click on the word “survey,” complete and submit the survey.
