Encampment boys win two out of three

Tigers earn No. 1 seed and head to Regionals in Lander

Kicking their weekend off against Walden, the Encampment boys (5-0, 16-1) won 59-37.

"This was a great team game with everyone getting involved in the scoring. Encampment controlled the boards 34 to 21 and that was the biggest difference in the game," said Coach Clint Bromley.

Gage Bartlett had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Wyatt Cox followed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Guy Erickson had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Jared Stewart had 9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. KeeGan Johnson scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Tigers kept rolling as they took down Rock River 66-33.

"The team executed well on offense and caused 37 turnovers (off of 27 steals) on defense which was the difference in the game," Bromley said.

Guy Erickson led scoring with 22 points and got 7 assists and 13 steals. Hunter Hammer followed with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Gage Bartlett scored 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Wyatt Cox got 9 points. Jared Stewart had 7 rebounds and 6 steals.

In the last game of the weekend the Tigers struggled to get going as they fell to Little Snake River (LSRV), 32-38.

"We just couldn't get anything going on the offensive end even though we held LSRV to 38 points," Bromley said.

"We were 0 of 9 from 3-point land and gave up 3 to LSRV," Bromley said. "That was the main difference in the game. Win or lose, the conference was already decided and the aggressiveness on offense just wasn't there."

"The Rattlers played a smart game and deserved the win," he said.

The No. 1-seeded Tigers will face the No. 4-seeded Meeteetse Longhorns Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the 1A West Regionals in Lander.
