Lady Tigers take Little Snake River Rattlers in 5 sets

The Encampment Lady Tigers (8-1, 2-0) came home with a first place trophy after dominating the Hanna Tournament this weekend.

The weekend started with a win against conference rival Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Rattlers, the only team to beat the Lady Tigers at the Saratoga Pool Play last month. The Lady Tigers traveled to Baggs to play Friday night before traveling to Hanna for the tournament.

The Tigers have been winning matches since, and Friday night was a big coup for them. They now stand as the No. 1 seed in the 1A Southwest Conference.

The Tigers played 5 sets against LSRV to take the win, 17-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 16-4.

Saturday, the girls were as strong as ever, when they went up against Rock River with Sierra Loftice hitting three aces, Paige Powell having two aces and McKenzie Powell serving one.

It was hard for Rock River to get past the Tiger offense as the girls had 22 kills, which Alyssa Barkhurst and P. Powell leading the kills at seven each.

A. Barkhust led with the digs at 14 against Rock River. The Tigers easily won 25-9 and 25-13.

The Lady Tigers would go on for a set win against Lingle/Fort Laramie, 25-19, then fell 19-25. It would be there only loss in the tournament.

Against, Dubois, the Lady Tigers had an easy win of 25-14 and 25-9. Farson fell into the Tigers trap with 25-17 and 25-11.

The Lady Tigers matched up against Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow (HEM) to take the championship win. HEM had the home court advantage, but could not pull off the win against the mighty Lady Tigers, 25-16 in both sets.

The Lady Tigers travel to Rock River for at 11 a.m. match Saturday.
