Saratoga sticker design takes off

The Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce received a grant from the Carbon County Visitors' Council as well as other sources to join one of Wyoming's newer marketing campaigns as well as some original advertisement ideas.

This campaign involves a variety of stickers-some include generic lines such as "bike Wyoming" or "road trip Wyoming". There are others that include original designs featuring towns in the state, with personalized designs that are only sold in the region. This is considered a tourist attraction, where people can travel throughout Wyoming to collect these stickers.

Stacy Crimmins, Chief Executive Officer for the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce, said that she thought the sticker campaign is currently one of the better ideas and she knows that people will take interest in them. "It was a project that kind of fell into my lap and I just thought 'why don't we get a sticker?' I just love them.'

"We wrote a grant to Carbon County Visitors' Council to not only design and print that sticker, but to also do some other things to help us put more light on Saratoga and the Upper North Platte Valley."

The Chamber of Commerce has rights to the design, so they decided to use the graphic to their advantage to make postcards.

"We can have those in the packet and they will be stamped so when that person gets their packet they can use that postcard to send to somebody else that they know or just put it on their bulletin board," said Crimmins. "But we are hoping that they come to this area and stay and then they use that postcard to send to grandma back in Iowa or something like that."

The third feature that was included in the grant funding was creating a 'Hobo Pool" rack card. This is a card that would be featured in other regions of Wyoming in attempt to attract visitors to the Platte Valley.

"The Valley didn't have anything that just spoke about the hot pool; which, is one of the biggest reasons that people come here," Crimmins stated.

Those will be placed in the larger visitor centers in Wyoming, according to Crimmins.

Overall, the grant funding provided bought the Chamber of Commerce 3,000 stickers, 1,000 postcards and 8,000 rack cards. The total cost was $4,750.

The 'Saratoga, WY' stickers are available at the Brush Creek Visitor Center and the Riverside Visitor Center.
