Kerbs, Dickinson head to Boys State

Two high school boys have been accepted to participate in the Boys State sponsored by American Legion Post No. 54.

Aaron Kerbs, junior at Saratoga Middle High School, and Jacob Dickinson, junior at Encampment K-12 School, are attending Boys State June 6-12 at the Wyoming State Fair Park in Douglas, Wyo.

Boys who qualify must have successfully completed their junior year of high school, have at least one semester of high school remaining and have outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service to their schools, according to the American Legions Boys States brochure.

Boys who have previously attended Boys State are not eligible to attend a second session.

The American Legion Boys State is an educational program focusing on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governmental bodies and elected public officials.

The program is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its respective state government.
