Water and Sewer Board has new vice president, treasurer

The Saratoga/Carbon County Impact Joint Powers Board (Water and Sewer Board) welcomed a new member to the board as well as appointing vice president and treasurer during their monthly meeting on April 8.

Tim Lamprecht, owner of Valley Foods, was nominated for the vice president position. Russell Waldner, Director of Engineering Services Carbon Power & Light, was new to the board and was nominated as treasurer. Their terms extend until July, when the annual appointments are completed.

Heath Overfield, CEO of Engineering Associates, presented a status update for the new treated wastewater sewer line.

It was determined that a sewer pump would not be necessary for this project. This is a positive update, as installing a sewer pump as well as the line would cost an extra $200,000- $250,000.

There were three different lines under analysis that Overfield mentioned and he is leaning towards the longest route.

According to Overfield, the first two routes are less distance to the river (3,000 ft- 4,000 ft), but the water table is close to the surface and would have to go through two utility lines, making these routes less practical. The third line is longer, but the groundwater isn’t as high and exposed with this line.

“As far as the design goes, all the survey work is done. Were going to start working on the details on the design of this [third] route and talking with the landowners on easements for that [third] route,” Overfield said.

The next meeting is May 6, 6 p.m. at the Saratoga Town Hall.
