Long-time Platte Valley resident Kathryn (Kate) Elizabeth Moon, 81, passed away in Houston Hospice on Oct. 16, 2014.
She was born Dec. 13, 1932 to Lee and Mary (Faulconer) Depoy, of Bethel Township, Fandon, Ill. She married Jack Moon June 19, 1950. After Jack's time in the Air Force, they moved to Loveland, Colo., then moved to the One Bar Eleven Ranch southeast of Saratoga in 1958.
Kate was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a homemaker and retired in 2001 as Administrative Assistant at the Colorado State University Beef Improvement Center.
Kate was a member of the Encampment Presbyterian Church, an active Elder and Past Deacon, Order of Eastern Star, state and local Cattlewomen, Grand Encampment Museum and a past member of the Wyoming Board of Agriculture.
Kate is survived by her three children, her son Mike (Kathy) Moon, of Saratoga, her daughters Cheryl Moon, of Prescott, Ariz., and Peggy Moon, of Las Vegas, Nev. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tonja Moon, of Cheyenne, Brent (Mandy) Moon, of Saratoga, Katie (Dennis) Crawford, Regan Palmer, Shannon Tharp and Tasha (Derek) Scott. Her sister Martha Jo Rahman, of Houston, Texas, and companion Bill Mansperger, of Coatsburg, Ill. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved, also survive her.
Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her father and mother, brother George Depoy, sister Anna Lou Westerhold, grandson Allen Moon and granddaughter Brandy Kay Moon Smith.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 1 at the Encampment School gym. A private family burial will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery east of Riverside.
