Residents enjoy Fourth of July

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

For July 4th, eight residents went downtown to watch the Fourth of July parade with Sue Morawski and Brenda Zeiger. For the noon meal, residents had hamburgers, chips, macaroni salad, and ice cream. In the evening, several residents watch the fireworks from our patio put on at the Old Baldy Club.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Dominoes with Pat Rust winning. On Monday afternoon, eight residents played Yahtzee with Janet Kennaday winning. On Tuesday morning, five residents played Dominoes with Marion Lansdown winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Gloria Rakness, Dawna Erickson, Elder Christiansen, Elder Ramirez, and Elder Franz. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

During the evenings, residents watched Turner Classic Movies. On Sunday morning, three residents watched the DVD movie, “The Voyage of Natty Gann”. On Tuesday afternoon, three residents watched the DVD movie, “Amelia”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the DVD movie, “While You Were Sleeping”.

On Sunday afternoon, Ken Kreusel of the Encampment Presbyterian Church at our church service. Becky Kreusel assisted on the keyboard.

For Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center, three residents had beef tacos on Monday.

On Tuesday morning, Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center offered Bible Study to four residents.

On Wednesday morning, Lynda Healey and Janice Kerpan gave Hair Care to 11 residents, and Georgia Schroer and Melissa gave Nail Care to 15 residents.

On Thursday afternoon, four residents did an Arts and Crafts project.

On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
