Obituary: Elmer P. Cooper

Elmer P. Cooper, 77, long-time Carbon County resident, passed away on May 29, 2014, at Deseret Health Care in Saratoga.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. June 11, 2014, at the Saratoga Cemetery Chapel. Services will be conducted by friend and fellow school mate, Teense Willford. He will be honored by his friends in the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department. Interment with military honors will follow. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Carbon County Funeral Home.

Elmer was born in Laramie on Nov. 10, 1936. He graduated in 1954 from the Platte Valley High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961.

Elmer was always interested in equipment and worked as a mechanic and welder. He owned and operated A-OK Concrete in Saratoga and was employed by Mobile Premix in Rawlins until his retirement in 2010.

Elmer joined the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department in 1954 and was an active member of the Department for 60 years, where he served in numerous positions and was the hazmat specialist.

Elmer is survived by K. Powd and Mary Ann Boles, of Hanna; numerous cousins; and good friends, Brad Cary and Don Herold.

Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Cooper and mother, Kate (Dolling) Cooper.
