Easter egg hunt draws 35 kids

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, five residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Tuesday morning, four residents played Yahtzee with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and Friday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo. Truth Karstoft, Dora Martin, Carol Higby, Marion Lansdown, and Pat Rust won Four Corners. Kenny Hoagland and Frank Jereb won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Lila Worden, Joy Hamilton, Dawna Erickson, Joannie Johnson, Nancy Facciani, Elder Ramirez, Elder Hallam, and Gloria Rakness.

During the evenings throughout the week, residents watched the Turner Classic Movie channel. On Sunday morning, seven residents watched the VCR movie, “Five Mile Creek”. On Tuesday afternoon, five residents watched the VCR movie, “The Shadow Riders”.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center led our church service, offering Communion. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard.

On Monday afternoon, 12 residents attended Resident Council under the leadership of President Randy Cross, discussing concerns about living at the facility.

On Tuesday morning, Reverend Helen Young of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church offered Bible Study to five residents.

On Wednesday morning, Lynda Healy, Georgia Schroer, Kathy McMorrow, and Merlynn Hoopes gave Hair Care to nine ladies and Nail Care to eight residents.

On Wednesday during supper, Teense Willford sang and played country western music on his guitar for 24 residents.

On Thursday morning, residents dyed Easter eggs in Arts and Crafts.

On Thursday afternoon, the St. Barnabus Guild hosted our birthday party with ice cream and cake. We celebrated the birthdays of Edith Donnis, Sam Kelly, and Carol Higby.

On Saturday afternoon, the facility hosted an Easter egg hunt for kids in the community. Elders Ramirez and Hallam helped staff in the morning plant the eggs. About 35 kids plus adults showed up for the event. Everyone enjoyed an ice cream after the hunt.

We wish to thank Loretta Loose for the prizes for Bingo. We also wish to thank the ladies at the Encampment Thrift Shop for the donation of ceramic decorations and Easter baskets.
