Residents enjoy myriad activities

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Each night during the week, residents watched Turner Classic Movies” in the evening. On Sunday morning, five residents watched the VCR movie, “Tall in the Saddle. On Tuesday afternoon, six residents watched the VCR movie, “The Client”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Frances, The Talking Mule”.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, three residents played Dominoes with Charlotte Gibbons winning. On Wednesday afternoon, 11 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 10 residents played Bingo. Nadine Caleb and Sam Kelly won Four Corners. Kenny Hoagland, Frank Jereb, and Pat Faust won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Joy Hamilton, Lila Worden, Dawna Erickson, Elder Zivala, Elder Alameda, and Gloria Rakness. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

On Sunday afternoon, Pastor Gene Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center led our church service. Doris Davis assisted with traditional religious music on the keyboard.

Monday afternoon, nine residents attended Resident Council under the leadership of President Randy Cross, discussing concerns about living at the facility.

On Wednesday morning, Brenda Zeiger gave three ladies beautiful hairdos in Hair Care. She also did nails for three residents.

On Thursday morning, residents listened to the news and the current book that is being read, Mary Higgins Clark’s “Two Little Girls in Blue”.

On Thursday afternoon, the Saratoga Presbyterian Deacons hosted our monthly birthday party, celebrating the birthdays of Truth Karstoft, Jim Davis and Don Baker, with ice cream and cake.

On Thursday during supper, Teense Willford sang and played country-western music on his guitar for 25 residents.

On Friday, four residents went to the Birthday Lunch at the Saratoga Senior Center, having roast beef and birthday cake. We celebrated the birthday of Truth Karstoft, among others.

On Saturday afternoon, residents enjoyed ice cream sandwiches.
