Fall book sale in progress

One person’s old used book can be another person’s treasure at the Saratoga Friends of the Library-sponsored Fall Book Sale this week.

The book sale is open to all and runs until Oct. 4. Ruth Hackett, Saratoga Library Branch Manager, said people can donate books for the sale, and all prices and sales are determined by donation.

She said the money from the book sales will be used toward library equipment and programs.

“We’ll take pretty much all books, except for things like old encyclopedias or textbooks, and the money goes to things the library needs like furniture and other items like that,” Hackett said. “It also goes toward programming done throughout the year. Saratoga Friends of the Library puts on programs through the year where they sponsor events like humanities speakers presenting historical topics.”

Hackett said people can bring in books to donate at any time during regular library hours.

“If some of the books are in good shape, we may even put them into the library system,” she said. “We get a lot of book donations throughout the year and have a spring and fall book sale. It’s our main fundraiser for Saratoga Friends of the Library.”

The sale takes place during regular library hours at the Saratoga Library, 503 W. Elm in Saratoga.
