Power at Pavilion set to inspire Christian audiences

With a goal to help inspire, uplift and entertain audiences, the Power at the Pavilion Christian music festival will grace Saratoga for another summer July 26-28.

Gene Smith, Pastor for the Platte Valley Christian Center, said the purpose of this interdenominational Christian music gathering is for people of all faiths to give praise to Jesus Christ and be witnesses to the community with the power of music. Power at the Pavilion has been in Saratoga each summer since 1996, and will take place on the Saratoga Pavilion stage.

“We’re hoping to bring churches together and stand as witnesses to Christ in our Valley,” Smith said. “We’ve had people come from different spots all around the state, mostly from Rawlins and Casper, and had around couple hundred people attend in the past.”

Performers at Power at the Pavilion include local talent and special guests from outside of the Platte Valley. Lined up musical guests include Montana-based singer Cissy Padgett, who performs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and the local Teense Wilford Band, which performs at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Smith said attendees can also hear music from a variety of local musical artists and choirs, which include several young performers, Friday and Saturday.

“We will have a variety of styles, but they are all within a Christian theme,” he said. “On Friday we’ll have some traditional gospel and contemporary music, and on Saturday we’ll have some contemporary and heavy rock. We’ll also have a lot of talented kids who sing or play their own original songs.”

Smith said Power at the Pavilion is open to all ages and free of charge, but donations are always helpful. He said he hopes that the event can grow to be even larger and longer.

“In the future we’d like to see even more people come out, and have an even bigger diversity of artists,” he said. “We would also like to make it a longer event.”

Power at the Pavilion takes place at the Saratoga Pavilion, located at Constitution Avenue and S. River Street in Saratoga. The local artists and choirs begin at 5 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday, and a community church service with Cissy Padgett begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The service Sunday is also followed by a free lunch.
