Activities, volunteers keep residents busy

At Deseret Health and Rehab, residents enjoyed many activities throughout the week. The Activity Department offers a wide variety of activities each week to meet the residents’ interests, as well as the physical, mental and psychological well-being of each resident.

Games throughout the week provided fun and laughter. On Sunday afternoon, four residents played Uno, and on Monday afternoon five residents played Uno again. On Wednesday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo, and on Friday afternoon, 12 residents played Bingo. Frank Jereb and Truth Karstoft won Four Corners. Jeanette Baker,Carol Higby, Dora Martin, and Barbara Hooker won Blackouts. Our Bingo helpers were Betty Dean, Nancy Facciani, Connie Hood, Roxie Baldwin, Lila Worden, and Jill Martin. On Saturday afternoon, residents played Blackjack.

Residents enjoyed watching movies during the week. Every evening several residents watched Turner Classic Movies.On Sunday morning, three residents watched the VCR movie, “The Rare Breed”. On Tuesday afternoon, five residents watched the VCR movie, “I Love Trouble”. On Saturday morning, residents watched the VCR movie, “Holiday”.

On Sunday afternoon, the Saratoga Presbyterian Church gave Communion to four residents.

On Sunday afternoon, Mrs. Hughes stood in for Pastor Hughes and led our church service. Doris Davis assisted on the keyboard.

On Monday and Thursday mornings, residents attended Reading Fun, listening to Jeanette Walls’ “The Glass Castle”.

On Tuesday morning, Pastor Smith of the Platte Valley Christian Center offered Bible Study to four residents.

On Wednesday morning, Janice Kerpan gave nine ladies beautiful hairdos, and Brenda Zeiger gave nail care to six residents.

On Wednesday during supper, Debbie Easterling and Janet sang old favorites to 26 residents.

On Thursday during supper, Teense Willford sang and played country western music on his guitar for 26 residents.

On Friday, four residents had crab cakes for Lunch Out at the Saratoga Senior Center.

On Saturday afternoon, 20 residents and staff had ice cream sandwiches.

We wish to thank Pat Ramos and Jill Martin for the kind financial donations for Bingo. Roxie Baldwin donated candy for Bingo prizes. Nancy Facciani donated some assorted prizes for Bingo.
